Job Description:

CohesionForce is actively seeking Software Engineering candidates to become part of our team in Huntsville, AL to support the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program.

The selected Principal Software/Sr. Principal Software Engineer responsibilities include the development and support of products within the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) program.  You will be responsible for developing and implementing software updates that best meet changing customer needs for new and existing features for the IFICS Data Terminal (IDT), collaborating with team members, and working in a cross functional agile scrum team.

Essential Functions:
– Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
– Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction.
– Apply “systems thinking” to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.
– Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.
– The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels.
– Well versed in agile software development and performing collaboration between self-organizing cross-functional scrum teams.
– Management of requirements using IBM Rational Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS).

                         Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer:

– Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, science, or technology degree with 5 years of experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with less than 3 years of experience, or 0 years of related experience with a PhD.
– Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C or C++, C#, Java, or Ada.
– Experience in object-oriented Design and Linux platform development.
– Proficiency in software configuration management and version control tools such as ClearCase, Git/GitHub, Subversion.
– Proficiency in Agile development concepts, methodologies and tools such as Atlassian products, including JIRA, Fisheye, Crucible, Confluence, etc.
– The ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
–  A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.

– Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, science, or technology degree with 9 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a related field with 7 years of experience, or 4 years of related experience with a PhD.
–  Experience developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as C or C++, C#, Java, or Ada.
–  Experience in object oriented Design and Linux platform development.
–  Proficiency in software configuration managment and version control tools such as ClearCase, Git/GitHub, Subversion.
–  Proficiency in Agile development concepts, methodologies and tools such as Atlassian products, including JIRA, Fisheye, Crucible, Confluence, etc.
–  The ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.
–  A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or related field.
– Excellent decision making and communication (written and verbal) skills.
– Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a collaborative, Agile integrated product team (IPT) environment.
– Security+ certification.
– GMD/MDA experience.
– Missile defense experience.
– High proficiency with tools required for communication system and network modeling and simulation.
– Communication Link or Signal Processing System experience.
–  Experience in IBM Rational Sofware including DOORs, Rhapsody, etc.
–  Experience with continuous integration and delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices.
–  Containeraization and Software Implementation Servers experience.
–  A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
